| 2007 Honoree - Spectrum Health Systems
Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is a private non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of
men and women suffering from addictions and mental illness. Founded thirty-seven years ago, Spectrum
has been a leader in substance abuse treatment. Spectrum established one of the first therapeutic communities
in the United States for the treatment of drug abuse, and in so doing dealt head-on with a population
that has been historically underserved and marginalized.
Originally known as “Spectrum House” Spectrum has grown exponentially
since its founding, offering services in states other than Massachusetts and
developing new cutting-edge programs to address the needs of certain high risk
populations such as offender addicts and troubled youth. Its sixteen
acre campus, located in Westborough, Massachusetts, is staffed by caring,
skilled professionals who oversee the participation of its clients in a continuum
of substance abuse treatment services including inpatient detoxification, short-term transitional services, and long-term residential rehabilitation.
Previous grant money provided
by The 200 Foundation has been used to provide classes for residents to receive their GED’s.
Spectrum continues to be a nationally recognized leader in the treatment of substance abuse issues, constantly
evolving to meet the new and growing challenges of the population it serves. Through partnering
with public sector organizations and by continually redesigning its programs Spectrum Health Systems,
Inc. looks to continue to broaden the array of services offered and to identify new programs which can
serve as effective interventions in the treatment of substance abuse.
